The National General Certificate

The NEBOSH National General Certificate is established as a leading award in basic health and safety held by more than 100,000 people. This comprehensive NEBOSH Certificate eLearning course which concludes with a two-part written examination and practical safety assessment, gives an excellent grounding in the fundamentals of occupational health and safety management. Having completed NEBOSH Certificate eLearning course, you will have the competence and knowledge to recognise hazards and risks, analyse the significance of human factors such as attitudes and perception, and be able to report to senior management appropriate and cost-effective recommendations.

The NEBOSH National General Certificate is a qualification designed to help those with health and safety responsibilities (e.g. managers, supervisors and employee representatives) to discharge more effectively their organisational duties and functions. The NEBOSH National General Certificate is not a qualification for health and safety specialists, who should seek to obtain a professional qualification such as the NEBOSH National Diploma.

No previous health and safety knowledge is required but students must be able to write short reports. Examinations are available at NEBOSH – approved centres, both in the UK and overseas.
